Vishakhapatnam Nov 3, 2019: Oasis Centre for Reproductive Medicine, a unit of the Sadguru Healthcare Services Pvt. Ltd recently organised an ART conclave at Vishakapatnam. Around 300 Gynecologists came together to discus and create awareness of the various advance treatments and their outcomes in the presence of experts from around India. The ART (Assisted Reproductive Techniques) Conclave was organized by Oasis Fertility in association with Obstetrics & Gynecology society of Vishakhapatnam(OGSV) & Indian Society for Assisted Reproduction (ISAR)- AP Chapter. All the scientific sessions were organized for a full day under the guidance of Dr. Durga G Rao, Co- Founder & Medical Director, Oasis Fertility, Dr. Krishna Chaitanya, Scientific Head & Clinical Embryologist, Oasis Fertility & Dr. Radhika Potluri, Clinical Head & Fetility Specialist Oasis Fertility- Vizag. Also present were Dr. N Sanjeeva Reddy from Chennai, Dr. Sonia Malik from Delhi, Dr. Sonal Panchal from Ahmedabad & Dr. Fessy Louis from kochi participating in the conclave.
The global average fertility rate is just below 2.5 children per woman today. Over the last 50 years the global fertility rate has halved. And over the course of the modernization of societies the number of children per woman decreases very substantially.
The total fertility rate in India too has similar trends which has more than halved in both urban and rural areas, falling even below the replacement level in Urban it is 1.7, down from 4.1 in 1971. In rural areas, TFR has fallen from 5.4 to 2.4 during the same period. There are very similar reports emerging in Vishakapatnam with TFR being 1.8.

Talking on the occasion Dr Krishna Chaitanya – Scientific Head and Clinical Embryologist of Oasis Fertility said,“In India the general notion or myth is that infertility clinics are meant only for treating women, the entire male infertility gamut is just ignored. According to Journal of Reproductive Sciences “Male factor” infertility is seen as an alteration in sperm concentration and/or motility and/or morphology in at least one sample of two sperm analyzes, collected 1 and 4 weeks apart, in India, nearly 50% of infertility is related to the reproductive anomalies or disorders in the male. Hence it is important that the male infertility is evaluated completely when a couple come forward for fertility treatment.
