Another cardiac transplant at M S Ramaiah Narayana Heart Centre

Green Corridor from Mysore to Bangalore

20 year old youth hailing from Byadarahalli, Bangalore gets a new life as he undergoes a heart transplant at M S Ramaiah Narayana Heart Centre – a unit managed by Narayana Health. The donor is a 44 year old man from Ketur Bannur, Mysore.  He was admitted at JSS hospital Mysore after he fell from height while working. Doctors declared him ‘Brain Dead’ today morning and his wife consented for the organ donation.

The heart was retrieved at JSS hospital Mysore and was transported to M S Ramaiah Narayana Heart Centre, Mattikere. The heart was transported via green corridor and was received at M S Ramaiah Narayana Heart Centre at 9am today covering a distance of 170km.

Hailing from Byadarahalli, Bangalore, the recipient is a 20 year old man suffering from restrictive cardiomyopathy. He was on medical management at M S Narayana Heart Centre and registered with Jeevasarthakate for past one year. After a thorough evaluation by a team of cardiologists and cardiac surgeons, the patient was advised a heart transplant.

The heart retrieval and transplant was performed by Dr. Nagamalesh. U.M, Senior Consultant Heart Failure & Transplant, M S Ramaiah Narayana Heart Centre, Dr. Ravi Shankar Shetty, Senior Consultant Cardiothoracic & Heart Transplant Surgeon, M S Ramaiah Narayana Heart Centre,  Dr. Julius Punnen, Senior Consultant Cardiac Surgeon, Dr. Guru Police Patil Anaesthetist, Dr. Prashanth Ramamurthy, Consultant Cardiac Anaesthetist, M S Ramaiah Narayana Heart Centre and the team.
