AHH-owned Asian Institute of Nephrology and Urology (AINU), India’s largest single-speciality hospital network of Urology & Nephrology Care, announced the inauguration of its cutting-edge male reproductive and sexual health facility at AINU, Chennai Hospital. As part of this announcement, AINU has also appointed its Fellowship-Trained Certified Microsurgical Andrologist and Urologist, Dr Sanjay Prakash J, as the head of AINU Andrology, Chennai. Being the only certified Andrologist in Chennai, Dr Sanjay brings a wealth of experience and expertise to the position, having earned a stellar reputation for his contributions to the field of andrology and urology.

Pioneering a new era in male reproductive and sexual health in Chennai with a patient-centric approach, AINU Andrology Chennai stands at the forefront of innovation with cutting-edge infrastructure and the latest technologies. The programme offers a wide range of comprehensive andrology care services from addressing sexual dysfunction and male infertility to providing specialised emergency and cosmetic andrology solutions ensuring a seamless continuum of precision and personalised care for men.

Dr Arun Kumar, MD, Chief Consultant Urologist, AINU, Chennai, said, “In the realm of men’s sexual and reproductive health in India, there exists a significant gap filled by an unorganised sector lacking scientific qualifications. Adding to this, purchases from OTCs and adult content websites also have adverse side effects. This often results in patients undergoing misguided treatments, unnecessary investigations, and incurring substantial expenditures. As pioneers in Urology and Nephrology, we are acutely aware of the pressing need to rectify this deficiency. Hence, we have taken the decisive step to introduce specialised Andrology services. Spearheaded by our proficient and seasoned team of clinicians, this initiative aims to bridge the existing gap in men’s sexual and Reproductive Health.

Dr Venkat Subramaniam, Executive Director & Senior Consultant Urologist said, “The prevalence of erectile dysfunction in India is alarmingly high, affecting approximately 30-35 per cent of men under the age of 40. This statistic is deeply concerning, especially considering the projected increase in incidence due to prevalent lifestyle issues. However, with the advent of AINU’s Andrology department, we are witnessing a paradigm shift in men’s healthcare. We aim to lead the charge in addressing the intricate complexities of male reproductive and sexual health, introducing pioneering advancements that set new standards in care. At AINU Andrology, our unwavering commitment is to ensure that every patient receives the utmost quality of care, ultimately reshaping the landscape of male reproductive and sexual health for the better.”

Dr Sanjay Prakash J, Consultant Microsurgical Andrologist and Urologist, AINU – Chennai, added, “Male infertility accounts for a significant portion, approximately 40-50 per cent, of all infertility cases, often characterised by issues like poor sperm count, which sadly robs many men of the opportunity to father a biological child. Adding to this challenge is erectile dysfunction, another prevalent factor contributing to infertility. Compounded by societal taboos and a lack of awareness surrounding men’s reproductive health, many individuals remain oblivious to the effective treatment pathways available. At AINU Andrology, our mission is to provide tailored treatment plans, addressing each patient’s unique needs to yield favourable outcomes. By spearheading this change in men’s healthcare, we aim not just to remedy sexual health and infertility issues but to elevate the overall quality of life for men in our community.”

Additionally, AINU-Andrology also takes pride in unveiling India’s first and latest generation penile shockwave therapy machine, Dornier Aires 2. This revolutionary outpatient procedure aims to enhance both the quality of erection and overall life, by significantly providing better results to individuals compared to traditional methods used to treat ED.
