Aster DM Healthcare’s Founder & Chairman, Dr. Azad Moopen, met Kerala’s Chief Minister and welcomed the State’s progressive budget, saying it reflects a strong focus on healthcare, education, employment, infrastructure and social development. During the meeting, he reaffirmed Aster’s long-term commitment to Kerala and discussed ways to expand healthcare infrastructure, medical education, skill development, medical tourism, healthcare technology and charitable initiatives across the State.
Dr. Moopen said Kerala holds a special place in Aster’s journey and remains one of its most strategic markets. He noted that the State’s skilled doctors, nurses and allied healthcare professionals give it a strong advantage in building a leading healthcare ecosystem. He said Aster remains committed to supporting Kerala’s vision of becoming one of India’s top healthcare destinations.
Following the integration of Aster and Quality Care India Ltd (QCIL), the combined network will operate 11 hospitals in Kerala with 4,575 beds, creating one of the country’s strongest healthcare platforms for tertiary and quaternary care. The group also plans to invest an additional ₹1,661 crore in Kerala to add 1,315 beds over the coming years, while creating nearly 7,900 additional jobs.
Aster said it will add 834 beds in Kerala on its own, including the upcoming 454-bed Aster Hospital in Thiruvananthapuram. The expansion is expected to strengthen access to advanced healthcare services, especially in South Kerala.
Dr. Moopen also underlined Aster’s commitment to charity and community care, noting the role of Aster Volunteers in relief and rehabilitation efforts after the Chooralmala-Mundakkai landslide disaster in Wayanad. He said the group remains focused on supporting vulnerable communities through healthcare, education and social welfare initiatives.
He further highlighted Aster’s ₹120 crore Cancer Care CSR Programme, under which advanced cancer treatment facilities will be developed across India over the next three years. The first project under the initiative is a state-of-the-art Linear Accelerator facility in Wayanad, aimed at making radiation therapy more accessible for patients from underserved regions.
