Aster Whitefield expands by 159 beds with ₹96 crore Women & Children wing. Level 3A NICU, water birthing, foetal medicine boost Bengaluru maternal care.

Aster DM Healthcare has poured Rs 96 crore into expanding its Women & Children facility at Aster Whitefield Hospital. The project boosts the hospital’s bed count from 380 to 539. Karnataka Health Minister Shri Dinesh Gundu Rao and Assembly Speaker Shri U.T. Khader inaugurated the expanded unit alongside U.T. Iftikhar Ali, Chairman of Karnataka State Allied and Healthcare Council.

The new 159 bed Aster Women & Children centre offers full maternity care from preconception through birth. Services include water birthing, advanced laparoscopic gynaecology, child development centre, foetal medicine unit, level 3A NICU, fertility centre, neonatal surgery, pediatric ICU and high dependency unit.

Dr Azad Moopen, Founder Chairman of Aster DM Healthcare, said, “As demand for high quality maternal and pediatric care grows, it is essential to scale both capacity and capabilities. At Aster, we remain focused on expanding centres of excellence that deliver compassionate, world-class care. The expansion of our Women & Children facility at Whitefield reflects our commitment to advanced infrastructure and specialised expertise, ensuring comprehensive, end-to-end care for mothers and children under one roof, while setting new benchmarks in the region.”

Shri Dinesh Gundu Rao, Karnataka Health Minister, noted, “The need for focused maternal and child healthcare facilities is growing rapidly in urban centres such as Bengaluru, where the demand for specialised and accessible healthcare continues to increase. Dedicated institutions like Aster Women and Children Hospital play an important role in strengthening healthcare delivery by bringing comprehensive obstetric and pediatric services under one roof. Such initiatives not only enhance access to quality care for mothers and children but also contribute significantly to improving maternal and child health outcomes. Strengthening specialised healthcare infrastructure through such efforts supports the broader goal of building a healthier and more resilient society.”

This expansion joins Aster’s upcoming 500 bed Yeshwantpur hospital and 430 bed Sarjapur facility. Together, they lift Aster’s Karnataka capacity to 2573 beds, cementing its place among the state’s top three private healthcare providers.
