The Ayushman Bharat Digital Mission (ABDM) has crossed the landmark milestone of 90 crore Ayushman Bharat Health Accounts (ABHAs) across the country, marking a major step in India’s push towards a connected and citizen‑centric digital health ecosystem. Implemented by the National Health Authority (NHA) under the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, ABDM enables citizens to create a unique 14‑digit ABHA that serves as their digital health identity, allowing them to securely link, access and share their health records with consent.
According to official data, the pace of ABHA creation has accelerated consistently since the launch of ABDM, with cumulative accounts rising from 14.7 crore in 2021 to 30.4 crore in 2022, 50.6 crore in 2023, 72.2 crore in 2024, then 84.5 crore in 2025, and surpassing 90 crore in 2026. Uttar Pradesh leads the country with over 15.3 crore ABHA accounts, followed by Rajasthan and Maharashtra with about 7.1 crore each, Bihar with 6.3 crore, and West Bengal with 5.9 crore.
The government highlighted that women account for nearly half of all ABHA holders, with females constituting around 49.75% of the total accounts created so far, reflecting efforts to ensure inclusive participation in the digital health ecosystem. Officials said the growing footprint of ABHA across states and Union Territories demonstrates increasing adoption of ABDM by citizens, healthcare providers and ecosystem partners ranging from hospitals and clinics to digital health platforms.
Dr Sunil Kumar Barnwal, CEO of the National Health Authority, said the creation of over 90 crore ABHAs underscores the collective commitment of citizens, states, UTs and partners to transforming healthcare delivery through digital tools. He noted that as ABDM adoption deepens, ABHA‑linked health records will help ensure continuity of care, reduce reliance on paper‑based records and support more seamless, transparent and patient‑centric services across public and private facilities.
