Dr Harsh Mahajan turns angel investor, backs mental health startup wayForward

Dr Harsh Mahajan, Founder, Mahajan Imaging Centre, New Delhi and Former President, Indian Radiological and Imaging Association (IRIA) has invested in Wayforward Health Pvt. Ltd, a digital mental and emotional health company based in New York, reported vccircle.com.

Founded by the husband-wife due of Ritvik Singh, Dr. Navya Singh and technology expert Stan Miroshnikov the company aims to ensure that everyone has access to mental and emotional health support at all times. The company claims their proprietary app algorithm overcomes the barrier of limited access to experts by providing them real time analytics and smart assistance. The programme provides high-quality wellness support en-mass and allows experts to help many more people than is possible with one-on- one support. This becomes especially crucial in a country like India where there is a severe shortage of mental health professionals.

Last October, wayForward, , launched its app-based programme in India with Fortis Healthcare as one of its partners. The programme uses techniques of cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT) and mindfulness to potentially help millions solve problems caused by stress, anxiety and other emotional or mental health issues in the comfort of their own homes, without the fear of stigma, through its unique “coach in your pocket” concept.

According to the news report the startup has raised close to $1 million in angel funding from three individual investors; Dr Harsh Mahajan, Farhan Naqvi, a technology investment banker with Deutsche Bank; and Sreepathy Viswanathan, senior vice president of M&A and partnerships at Hinduja Global Solutions Inc.
