Dr Nagendra Swamy joins Ramaiah Memorial Hospital as CEO, Healthcare Services, GEF (M)

Dr Swamy will be responsible for driving the strategic and operational vision of Ramaiah Memorial Hospital

Gokula Education Foundation (Medical), which runs the Ramaiah Group of Medical & Healthcare Institutions including Ramaiah Memorial Hospital and other associated institutions has announced the appointment of Dr Nagendra Swamy SC, as the Chief Executive – Healthcare Services, GEF (M), with immediate effect.

In this newly expanded leadership role, Dr Swamy will be responsible for driving the strategic and operational vision of Ramaiah Memorial Hospital and associated network hospitals of GEF (M).

He will also spearhead coordination across all healthcare institutions within the group to strengthen integration and drive clinical research. He will also coordinate all aspects of the unique collaboration between Ramaiah Memorial Hospital, Bangalore, and Mount Sinai Hospital, New York.

Dr Swamy brings over four and a half decades of distinguished experience in healthcare management, spanning India, the Middle East, and Far East Asia. Most recently, he served as the President of Ramaiah Memorial Hospital. His earlier roles include former Group Medical Director and Chairman Quality for  Manipal Health Enterprises. Previously he was also associated with Welcare Hospital (Dubai), Canadian Specialist Hospital (Dubai), and Fortis Hospital, Mohali. He is also associated with various prestigious healthcare institutions like JSS University, Siddaganga Medical College, SDM University Dharwad, and Symbiosis University, Pune.

Dr Nagendra Swamy has served on multiple national and international panels, including those constituted by NITI Aayog, CAHO, FICCI, and NABH. His contributions to the field have been recognized with numerous accolades, including the recent Lifetime Achievement Award 2025 by CAHO for his contributions towards patient safety, Distinguished Alumni Award from Manipal University, the Dr BC Roy Award on Doctor’s Day by the Government of Karnataka, and also an Awardee from the Indian Medical Association.

Dr Swamy said, “My focus will be on strengthening the group’s integrated care model, accelerating innovation, ushering in cutting-edge technologies, and ensuring that we continue to set benchmarks in care, quality, training, clinical excellence, and patient outcomes. I look forward to working closely with all stakeholders to advance our shared vision.”
