NATHEALTH has announced Dr. Sangita Reddy, Joint Managing Director of Apollo Hospitals Group, as its new President for FY 2026-27, marking a leadership transition at the apex body representing India’s healthcare industry.
She succeeds Ms. Ameera Shah, Promoter and Executive Chairperson of Metropolis Healthcare Ltd, with the announcement made at the Annual General Meeting held after the 12th NATHEALTH Arogya Bharat Annual Summit 2026.
The new leadership team also includes Mr. Himanshu Baid, Managing Director of Poly Medicure Ltd, as Senior Vice President, and Mr. Varun Khanna, Group Managing Director of Quality Care India Ltd, as Vice President. Further additions to the leadership team will be announced later.
Speaking about her appointment, Dr. Reddy said healthcare in India must move beyond episodic treatment and focus more on prevention, patient safety and long-term well-being. She said strengthening primary care, expanding insurance coverage and embedding preventive health practices across communities would be key to reducing the burden of non-communicable diseases and improving outcomes.
She also highlighted the role of technology and digital health platforms in extending quality care to underserved regions and ensuring continuity of care. Dr. Reddy said NATHEALTH would work closely with government and industry stakeholders to promote policies that improve quality standards, build trust and create an integrated, resilient healthcare ecosystem that is safe, affordable and accessible for all Indians.
Mr. Himanshu Baid said India is well placed to emerge as a global hub for medtech innovation, advanced medical device manufacturing and healthcare technology solutions. He said this would require sustained investment in R&D, supportive regulation and deeper collaboration between industry, academia and policymakers.
Mr. Varun Khanna said the next phase of India’s healthcare evolution will depend on how well the system integrates quality, accessibility and efficiency. He said stronger hospital infrastructure, standardised clinical protocols and the use of technology can improve patient outcomes, while closer collaboration among providers, policymakers and industry will be essential to building a more integrated and efficient healthcare ecosystem.
The leadership change comes at a time when India’s healthcare sector is receiving renewed policy attention, with healthcare finding mention in the Union Budget for FY 2026-27 and continued emphasis on strengthening health systems. NATHEALTH said its role as a convening platform for industry, government and other stakeholders will remain critical as the sector works toward greater access, innovation and resilience.
