Mr. Suresh Vazirani, Chairman & Managing Director, Transasia Bio-Medicals Ltd. received the award through the hands of Shri Ananth Kumar, Hon’ble Minister (Chemicals & Fertilizers), Government of India, at the 3rd International Exhibition & Conference on Pharmaceutical & Medical Devices Industry – India Pharma 2018 & India Medical Device 2018 held today at the Bangalore International Exhibition Centre, Bengaluru. Shri Suresh Prabhu, Union Minister of Commerce and Industry, Shri Jagat Prakash Nadda, Hon’ble Union Minister for Health & Family Welfare and other well-known dignitaries graced the conference. On receiving the award, Mr. Vazirani remarked, “I am honored to receive this prestigious award and grateful to the Ministry of Chemicals & Fertilizers, Government of India for conferring it on us. I am proud that Transasia is contributing to the growth of the economy through its exports to over 110 countries. With a vision of creating a ‘Healthier and Happier World’, Transasia has been successfully combining world-class technologies from our global subsidiaries with efficient, low-cost manufacturing in India to meet the diagnostic needs of India and the other emerging markets.” He further added, “On this note, I would like to thank the Government of India for recognizing medtech as a sunrise sector in its Make in India initiative. India’s products are being recognized worldwide for their quality, reliability, and affordability. The recent reforms are giving an impetus to the growth of this sector. Further boosts are welcome.” The award for the ‘India Medical Devices Export Company of the year’ category along with other categories was instituted by the Govt. of India in order to encourage indigenous manufacturing of medical devices. To this effect, Transasia is the first Indian In-vitro Diagnostic Company to manufacture and export state-of-the-art blood analyzers and reagents, way back in the 1990s. Transasia's main focus remains on the emerging countries in Asia, Africa, the Middle East, Latin America and Eastern Europe. In Asia, besides India, it caters to the diagnostic needs of countries such as Thailand, Indonesia, Philippines, and Vietnam. With over 14 overseas acquisitions in countries as varied as the Czech Republic, Germany, U.K, France, Italy, Russia, Turkey, and the US, Transasia serves millions. The exhibition brought together key decision makers from the realms of the industry, academia, regulators, and government to gauge opportunities and estimate the potential of indigenous manufacturing for medical devices in India and thereby create an ecosystem to enable path-breaking initiatives and innovations.
