India’s assistive technology market could grow to as much as ₹95,000 crore by 2030, with experts calling for a dedicated national policy to expand access, affordability and innovation. The push is being backed by NCPEDP, supported by Mphasis, as stakeholders say the sector has both a strong social impact and major economic potential.
NCPEDP said its upcoming policy paper calls for a systems-and-investment approach to build a more inclusive assistive technology ecosystem for persons with disabilities, older adults and people with functional limitations. The paper argues that India needs a comprehensive framework to improve design, delivery, financing and long-term sustainability of assistive solutions.
Experts said the market opportunity could be unlocked through stronger public policy, better standards, local manufacturing and wider adoption of accessible products and services. They added that assistive technology should be treated as essential infrastructure for independence, participation and dignity rather than as a niche product category.
The role of NCPEDP and Mphasis has already extended beyond policy advocacy into startup support and ecosystem building, including the NCPEDP- Mphasis Assistive Technology Hub. The initiative has supported early-stage innovators through seed grants, mentorship and visibility, helping build a pipeline of solutions for accessibility and inclusion.
