According to the statistics of WHO it is estimated that 2.6 million adolescents between the age of 10 to 24 years die each year and a much greater number of young people suffer from illnesses ‘behaviours’ which hinder their growth and development. Therefore, Jaslok Hospital centre encourages preteens, teenagers, young adults and parents of young girls/boys to come at the clinic and get their healthcare questions answered. Dr Tarang Gianchandani, CEO, Jaslok Hospital and Research Centre said, “Jaslok Hospital has always worked towards the betterment of the people. This initiative was a plan to provide treatment, solutions and spread awareness of specialised treatment options available for teenagers.” She added, “As the financial hub ‘Mumbai’ was lacking a specialised adolescent clinic under one roof we thought of commencing it to our city. This initiative is to establish that hospitals treat but institutions like Jaslok would want all our masses to stay healthy and hence focus on preventive care as well as appropriate care in time.
