KIMS Hospital hosts 4th National Conference For Biomedical Engineers

The 4th National Conference for Biomedical Engineers was held at KIMS Trivandrum on 12th August 2017. The conference was inaugurated by Dr Jithendar Sharma, Director and CEO Andra Pradesh Med Tech Zone & Adviser of health to Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh.   Dr M I Sahadulla, Chairman and Managing Director presided over the function. Dr Niranjan D Khambete, Secretary Biomedical Engineering Society of India, Deepak Agarkhad, NABH Technical Committee member, Neelakannan, Group Chief Operating Officer, KIMS, Jerry Philip, General Manager Operations, KIMS & Renjith R, Group Manager Clinical Engineering, KIMS were present for the occasion. Speaking on the occasion, Dr Jithendar Sharma emphasized the need for regulations in our country for mandatory presence of biomedical engineers in hospitals for seamless upkeep of equipment. Moreover there is a huge bulk of equipment worth crores in various hospitals which are under utilized and non-functional due to the lack adequate intake of biomedical engineers. The conference also discussed about the Public Private Partnership mechanism for better management of technically sophisticated equipment. The efforts of KIMS in providing Internationally Certified Training to the Biomedical Engineering graduates, and thereby extending their expertise services for other hospitals, received special mention.
