The UNIVANTS of Healthcare Excellence award program is a prestigious global award program created by Abbott in partnership with leading healthcare organizations with a common vision to inspire and celebrate healthcare excellence.
KIMSHEALTH, part of Aster DM Quality Care Limited, has bagged two UNIVANTS of Healthcare Excellence Awards 2026 for its innovative healthcare initiatives focusing on improving patient safety and outcomes. The first award, ‘Improving perinatal outcomes and protecting safety through laboratory medicine guided risk stratification of antenatal alloimmunization’, was won in the Elite Category. The initiative focuses on the early detection and management of antenatal alloimmunization, a condition in which a pregnant woman develops antibodies that can attack the baby’s red blood cells and cause anemia. This helps doctors identify high-risk pregnancies early and monitor babies closely, enabling timely treatment, including blood transfusions when needed, and at the same time helps avoid unnecessary interventions for mothers at low risk.
The second award, ‘Nurse-led anti-coagulation clinic for improved safety and reduced complications in patients taking oral anticoagulation’, was recognized as a 2026 best practice of distinction. The clinic is managed by a specially trained nurse who provides personalized care, dose monitoring, patient education and follow-up for patients taking blood-thinning medicines. The clinic also offers round-the-clock telephonic support. Currently, the clinic serves 1,200 patients.

The International awards were received by the KIMSHEALTH team, in the presence of Dr. M. I. Sahadulla, Group Chairman and Managing Director, KIMSHEALTH, from Tricia. H. Ravalico, Global Director, Abbott, at a function held in Thiruvananthapuram. It is for the first time in the history of UNIVANTS that the same hospital has been honored with two awards.

The award is an earned honour, assessed and evaluated by judges from world-renowned healthcare organizations, societies, and leaders. More than 80 applications were received from different parts of the world for the 2026 awards.
