KJ Somaiya College of Nursing has announced a specialised Certificate Program in Healthcare OPD Coordination. Developed in collaboration with KJ Somaiya Institute of Management (KJSIM), the programme is designed for PD Hinduja Hospital, one of Mumbai’s leading healthcare institutions.

The programme is developed to improve patient experience, staff coordination, and service delivery through structured, outcome-based training. It aims to build a skilled support workforce capable of managing clinic flow, assisting physicians, and delivering care with greater efficiency.

KJ Somaiya Institute of Management brings its expertise in outcome-based learning, healthcare operations, and system-level thinking to the course design. The collaboration ensures participants are not only clinically aware but also operationally prepared.

“KJSIM’s newly launched certificate program, Healthcare OPD Coordination for Hinduja Hospital, a collaborative effort with KJ Somaiya College of Nursing, is a direct response to the need for structured, outcome-based training in this vital space. By equipping healthcare personnel with the right managerial and coordination skills, we aim to enhance operational efficiency and elevate the patient experience across outpatient services. This is yet another step in our commitment to transforming healthcare delivery through purpose-driven education,” said Raman Ramachandran, PhD, Dean & Director, K J Somaiya Institute of Management.

“The OPD Health Coordinator course is unique in its approach as the pedagogy involves experiential learning and sharing. The curriculum is a blend of content and soft skills through activities to make learning fun,” said Dr Avani Oke, Principal, K J Somaiya College of Nursing.

Open to graduates from science or allied fields, the programme combines classroom sessions with hands-on training and clinical exposure. Participants will be nominated by Hinduja Hospital, Mumbai. The programme commenced in July 2025 and will be jointly certified by both institutions.

“A Synergy for Excellence “PD Hinduja Hospital is proud to collaborate with K J Somaiya Institute of Management and K J Somaiya College of Nursing to launch the Certificate Program in Healthcare OPD Coordination. This initiative is crucial for cultivating a highly skilled workforce in outpatient care, enhancing both patient experience and operational efficiency. Together, we are building a more coordinated, responsive, and compassionate healthcare system for the future,” said Jagdeep Chauhan, Director HR – PD Hinduja Hospital, Mumbai.

“The outpatient department in a healthcare institute is significantly important, and personnel who work here need structured multifocal training. KJ Somaiya College of Nursing and K J Somaiya Institute of Management have come together in a first-of-its-kind endeavour to develop a curriculum that will facilitate the training. An approach with a component that engages with a management base and other faculties would uniquely empower participants. This will benefit personnel from single clinics as well as Hospitals with multiple outpatient clinics,” said Dr Phalakshi Manjrekar, Director Nursing – PD Hinduja Hospital, Mumbai.
