An awareness session to educate the public about joint health, causes of joint degeneration, and the importance of timely evaluation and treatment was conducted.
Manipal Hospital, Bhubaneshwar, observed Joint Replacement Day with an awareness session aimed at educating the public about joint health, common causes of joint degeneration, and the importance of timely evaluation and treatment for individuals experiencing persistent joint pain and mobility challenges.
The programme commenced with a traditional lamp-lighting ceremony led by Dr. Sunil Kumar Dash, Consultant – Orthopaedics, Manipal Hospital Bhubaneswar, marking the beginning of the awareness initiative. The event witnessed participation from around 100 attendees, who engaged with experts and gained insights into joint replacement procedures, advancements in orthopaedic care, rehabilitation, and the importance of timely intervention in improving mobility and quality of life.
The awareness session featured insightful talks by Dr. Sunil Kumar Dash along with Dr. Kasinath Swain, Consultant Orthopaedics and Spine Surgery and Dr. Harekrushna Sahu, Consultant – Orthopaedics & Spine Surgery, Manipal Hospital, Bhubaneshwar, who addressed various aspects of joint health and joint replacement. The discussions focused on helping individuals understand when persistent joint pain should not be ignored and how appropriate diagnosis and treatment can help patients regain mobility and return to their daily routines.
Speaking on the occasion, Dr. Sunil Kumar Dash said, “Persistent joint pain and stiffness should not be considered a normal part of ageing. Robotic-assisted joint replacement is an advanced treatment that enables greater precision in surgical planning and implant placement, helping patients achieve better mobility and recovery. Timely consultation is key to choosing the right treatment and restoring quality of life.”
Dr. Harekrushna Sahu, said, “Joint replacement is not only about relieving pain; rehabilitation plays an equally important role in recovery. With the right post-surgical exercises and guidance, patients can gradually regain strength, movement and confidence in their daily activities.”
Dr. Kasinath Swain, said, “Timely diagnosis is important when joint pain, stiffness or restricted movement starts affecting daily activities. Early evaluation can help identify the underlying problem and allow appropriate treatment before the condition progresses.”
