Mankind Pharma, India’s fourth largest pharmaceutical company, has entered a strategic collaboration with OpenAI to embed advanced artificial intelligence throughout its value chain. This partnership positions Mankind among the first Indian pharma companies to fully integrate AI into core operations, aiming to accelerate innovation and enhance operational efficiency for the benefit of customers, doctors, and the broader healthcare ecosystem.

The integration involves deploying OpenAI Enterprise technologies across key areas such as field force enablement, digital marketing, research and development (R&D), manufacturing, and medical affairs. By leveraging cutting-edge AI models, including the latest GPT-5, Mankind Pharma seeks to convert vast amounts of data into actionable insights, streamline compliant communication, and optimize complex operations from drug discovery through delivery.

Arjun Juneja, Chief Operating Officer of Mankind Pharma, emphasized the transformational potential of this partnership. He stated, “Working with OpenAI is a pivotal step in building the pharma organization of the future. This integration allows our teams to move faster, work smarter, and unlock valuable insights that impact field force effectiveness, supply chain agility, and R&D acceleration. It’s not just automation; it’s about creating a more intelligent and future-ready enterprise.”

Mankind Pharma will employ GPT-powered dashboards to deliver real-time, data-driven insights in R&D, supply chain, and commercial operations. The company will also use automated multilingual communication to ensure speed, accuracy, and regulatory compliance in messaging to healthcare professionals and patients. Specialized AI agents dedicated to sales, marketing, R&D, and HR will boost efficiency and foster growth. Additionally, advanced clinical intelligence will facilitate streamlined literature reviews and real-time analysis of clinical and genomic data to accelerate scientific discovery. AI will also enhance manufacturing excellence by analyzing batch records and sensor data to detect anomalies early and recommend precise corrective actions.

Since July 2025, Mankind Pharma has successfully deployed a range of customized GPTs across its workforce. These AI-driven tools have notably enhanced sales and marketing performance through sharper messaging, quicker multilingual communication, refined demand planning, improved procurement, and better commercial operations. The availability of real-time field force analytics and more proactive clinical and manufacturing processes is enabling leadership to focus more on strategic growth.

The use of Custom GPTs within ChatGPT allows Mankind Pharma teams to create tailored AI assistants with personalized tone, specialized knowledge, and integration of proprietary data and workflows—without the need for specialized coding skills.

Oliver Jay, Managing Director, International at OpenAI, commented on the collaboration: “Mankind Pharma’s adoption of ChatGPT Enterprise exemplifies the practical application of AI in regulated industries like pharmaceuticals. By embedding advanced AI across research, operations, and medical communications, Mankind is making meaningful strides to improve efficiency and support innovation. We look forward to working with them to safely and responsibly advance AI-driven value creation in healthcare.”

This collaboration signals a major milestone in Indian pharmaceutical innovation, showcasing how AI can be leveraged to transform healthcare delivery and operational excellence.
