Dr Gogoi is acclaimed the world over for the management of challenging urological complications
Medanta has appointed urologist and transplant surgeon Dr Sanjay Gogoi as Chairman of Urology, Kidney Transplant and Uro-Oncology at the Renal Care Institute in its flagship hospital Medanta, Gurugram. With almost three decades of experience, Dr Gogoi is recognised globally for delivering outcomes at par with international benchmarks in complex urological procedures and kidney transplants.
Trained in advanced robotic surgery at the da Vinci Training Center in California, Dr Gogoi is acclaimed the world over for the management of challenging urological complications. He is sought-after for robotic kidney transplants in high-BMI patients and transplants requiring reconstructive techniques such as neobladders and augmentation cystoplasty. Notably, Dr Gogoi has led one of India’s largest series of paediatric kidney transplants and is widely acclaimed for managing congenital anomalies of the kidney and urinary tract (CAKUT).
Dr Gogoi is also well-known for his dedication to humanitarian work with war victims. He has successfully rehabilitated hundreds of war victims with genito-urinary trauma from Sri Lanka and the Middle East. His expertise is recognised internationally, with nearly 30 per cent of his cases coming from different parts of the world, reflecting the trust placed in him by patients from across the globe.
Prior to joining Medanta, Dr Gogoi headed the departments of Urology and Renal Transplantation at Apollo Hospital (Colombo), Fortis Memorial Research Institute (Gurugram), Manipal Hospital (Delhi) and Max Super Speciality Hospital (Dwarka).
