World Patient Safety Day 2023 sets forth several key objectives. It aims to raise awareness regarding the imperative role of patients, their families, and caregivers across all healthcare settings and levels in enhancing patient safety. This initiative seeks to actively involve policy-makers, healthcare leaders, healthcare workers, patient organisations, civil society, and other stakeholders in the pursuit of patient and family engagement within safe healthcare policies and practices. Furthermore, it endeavours to empower patients and their families to take an active role in their healthcare journey, contributing to its safety enhancement. Lastly, World Patient Safety Day advocates for swift and coordinated action in patient and family engagement, in alignment with the Global Patient Safety Action Plan 2021–2030, involving all relevant partners. To encapsulate these goals, the slogan “Elevate the voice of patients!” signifies a call to action for stakeholders to ensure patients’ inclusion in policy development, representation in governance structures, collaboration in safety strategy design, and active participation in their care, promoting safety, patient-centric care, trustworthiness, and equity through diverse voices, concerns, expectations, and preferences.

R Udayan Lahiry, Managing Director, Medica Group of Hospitals, shared, “On World Patient Safety Day 2023, we reaffirm our unwavering commitment to the safety and well-being of every patient we serve.
