Metropolis Healthcare expands its African footprint

Inaugurates regional reference laboratory in Nairobi, Kenya  Metropolis Star Lab Kenya, a subsidiary of India’s leading diagnostic service provider, Metropolis Healthcare, has announced the opening of its Regional Reference Laboratory in Nairobi, Kenya. With a strong presence in Kenya for over 10 years, the launch of this new regional reference lab strategically positions Metropolis to deliver cutting-edge diagnostic services to the community. Spanning over 6000 square feet, this state-of-the-art facility is equipped to process approximately 35,000 to 40,000 samples per month. It covers a wide range of specialities including haematology, microbiology, molecular biology, special chemistry, immunology, histology and cytology.  The laboratory was inaugurated by Mary Muthoni, Principal Secretary of the State Department for Public Health & Professional Standards, Government of Kenya. The event was attended by several distinguished guests, including Rohit Vadhwana, Deputy High Commissioner at the High Commission of India; Dr Walter Ongeti, Chief Executive Officer of KENAS; Patricia Aruwa, Deputy Director of Industries, Business Environment, and Private Sector Development at the State Department for Industrialization; Florence Wangui, Board Member of the Kenya Investment Authority; and Becky Kim, Board Member of the Kenya Investment Authority. Metropolis’ senior management team, comprising Avadhut Joshi, Chief Business Development Officer and Iqbal Ahmed, AVP – Business & Operations (East Africa), were also present at the event.  Surendran Chemmenkotil, CEO, Metropolis Healthcare, said, The opening of our regional reference lab in Kenya is part of Metropolis Healthcare’s strategic expansion plan to extend its high-quality diagnostic services to more regions in India as well as international countries where our brand is highly regarded. Metropolis has strategically strengthened its presence in Kenya over the years by setting up 21 centres across the country.
