JP Nadda to dedicate Govt of Karnataka Koosamma Shambhu Shetty Memorial Haji Abdullah Mother & Child Hospital to the people of Udupi

JP Nadda, Hon’ble Union Minister of Health will dedicate Govt of Karnataka Koosamma Shambhu Shetty Memorial Haji Abdullah Mother & Child Hospital (MCH Hospital) to the people of Udupi, Karnataka on 18 January 2018.

This is a unique and ‘the first of its kind’ Public Private Partnership Hospital Project in the whole of India, especially in the state of Karnataka wherein State Govt and a private entrepreneur have joined hands to provide world class healthcare delivery to the poor people of Karnataka. This path breaking hospital project is built by a distinguished healthcare entrepreneur Padmashree recipient Dr BR Shetty for the poor people of Udupi, as a philanthropic project. Dr BR Shetty is also a pioneer of international repute and was instrumental in launching the much renowned NMC Healthcare hospital chain, which has more than 88 healthcare facilities in more than 10 different countries. NMC Healthcare, the only FTSE 100 Company on London Stock Exchange among the GCC Countries, has now become the gold standard in healthcare delivery across the world.

18 January is a very auspicious day since Paryaya Mahotsav of Udupi Krishna Temple is also being celebrated with traditional fervour and gaiety on the same day.

MCH Hospital Udupi, a state-of-the-art hospital, built to world class specifications, has been constructed and will be run by BR Life, a new healthcare brand owned by Dr BR Shetty. The hospital will provide totally free services to the mother and child patients of the state of Karnataka and will bridge the gap on a long felt need. It will be equipped with state of the art equipment and technology and will bring differentiated healthcare delivery to the doorstep of the people of Karnataka. BR Life is also coming up with 130 dialysis centres in the state of Karnataka as another sterling example of PPP projects in the state coming to fruition under the BRS Ventures.

Dr BR Shetty hails from Udupi and has been actively involved in launching a series of welfare projects for the people of the state. This pioneering project speaks volumes of his deep commitment to the development of the state on multiple fronts and partner with the state govt in running a number of healthcare and developmental projects with significant impact on the community at large. This project is a jewel in the crown of BRS Ventures, an umbrella organisation, under which these path breaking projects are being rolled out systematically. Many more similar high impact projects are on the anvil country wide in the near future and will help drive sustainable growth.

This PPP hospital project is set to be the impeccable benchmark for others to emulate in future. To strengthen its presence in Udupi, BR Life plans to build another 400 bedded Superspecialty hospital in the town near the MCH Hospital. The income from this new hospital would be utilised to sustain free treatment of mother and child patients in MCH Hospital.

BR Life, under the worthy leadership of Dr BR Shetty, has a very vibrant and ambitious expansion plan for India and other countries. The group already has a 700 bedded hospital in Alexandria, Egypt and another one in Nepal. The group also plans to ramp up its bed strength to 20,000 beds in the coming years through a series of well planned acquisitions.
