Nanavati Max Super Speciality Hospital gets Centre of Excellence recognition for hernia, abdominal wall reconstruction and robotic surgery.

Nanavati Max Super Speciality Hospital has been recognised with two Centre of Excellence certifications for its expertise in hernia surgery, abdominal wall reconstruction and robotic surgery, further strengthening its position in advanced surgical care. The hospital received the distinction from the Association of Robotic & Innovative Surgeons for Robotic and Innovative Surgery and from the Abdominal Wall Reconstruction Surgeons’ Community for Abdominal Wall Reconstruction (AWR) and Hernia Surgery.

The dual recognition highlights the hospital’s focus on specialised, evidence-based treatment for patients with hernias, complex abdominal wall disorders and conditions requiring advanced minimally invasive or robotic procedures. While hernia is among the most common surgical conditions, treatment becomes far more complex when cases are large, recurrent, neglected or associated with obesity, prior surgeries, infections or abdominal wall weakness.

The hospital said the Centre of Excellence status will allow patients to access comprehensive care under one roof, from diagnosis and pre-operative assessment to advanced surgery and post-operative rehabilitation. Robotic and minimally invasive surgery has transformed treatment in such cases by offering greater precision, improved visualisation and better dexterity for surgeons, while often enabling smaller incisions, less pain, faster recovery and shorter hospital stays for suitable patients.

Dr. Manoj Jain, Director- Gastrointestinal, Bariatric, Laparoscopic & Robotic Surgery, Nanavati Max Super Speciality Hospital, said, “Hernia surgery is often perceived as a routine procedure, but many patients present with large, recurrent or highly complex hernias that require specialised expertise and meticulous surgical planning. These Centre of Excellence recognitions reflect our commitment to delivering safe, personalised and evidence-based care. By combining experienced surgical teams, advanced robotic and minimally invasive technology, and multidisciplinary support, we aim to provide the best possible outcomes and help patients return to normal life with confidence.”

The hospital said the recognitions further reinforce its standing as one of western India’s leading destinations for advanced gastrointestinal, abdominal wall reconstruction and robotic surgery. It also plans to increase public awareness about the importance of early diagnosis, timely intervention and specialised treatment for complex hernia and abdominal wall disorders.
