The worskshop was conducted under the aegis of the Skull Base Surgery Society of India

Fortis Hospital, Mulund, in collaboration with the Department of Neurosurgery, HBTMC & Dr RN Cooper Hospital, announced the conclusion of a pioneering two-day Endoscopic Skull Base Surgery Workshop in Mumbai, conducted under the aegis of the Skull Base Surgery Society of India.

The workshop, inaugurated by Dr S Narayani, Business Head, Fortis Hospitals Maharashtra and Dr Vishal Beri, Facility Director, Fortis Hospital Mulund, featured a comprehensive 3D anatomical tour of the skull base, extended endonasal approaches, complex bony landmark mapping, surgical video walkthroughs, and panel discussions on case selection. The second day schedule includes a cadaveric hands-on training module at Cooper Hospital, led by senior national faculty, focusing on endonasal corridors, TONES (Transorbital Neuroendoscopic Surgery), clival and petroclival approaches, cavernous sinus strategies, middle fossa pathways, and skull-base reconstruction.

Reinforcing this vision, Dr Vishal Beri, Facility Director, Fortis Hospital Mulund, shared, “Fortis Mulund has consistently focused on enabling knowledge exchange and multidisciplinary collaboration. This workshop represents the next phase of our efforts, creating a platform where clinical precision, advanced technology, and structured training converge to enhance outcomes in complex skull-base surgery.”

Dr Jayesh Sardhara, Director - Minimally Invasive Brain & Spine Surgery, Fortis Hospitals Mumbai and Organizing Chairperson of the two-day workshop, said, “Advanced neurosurgical training is essential to strengthening tertiary care delivery in India. This workshop reflects our collective commitment to elevating neurosurgical capabilities through immersive, high-definition learning. By combining 3D anatomical exploration with step-by-step technical demonstrations and cadaveric practice, we are creating an environment that mirrors real-world surgical complexity and greatly enhances surgical confidence among young neurosurgeons.”

Dr Shradha Maheshwari, Chairperson of the workshop, added, “Cadaveric training is the cornerstone of skull-base mastery. By integrating it with advanced 3D lectures and extended endonasal corridor mapping, we are enabling delegates to understand anatomy, orientation, and surgical judgment in a far more holistic manner.”

The workshop was supported by a distinguished national faculty group, including Dr CE Deopujari, Dr Suresh Sankhla, Dr Atul Goel, Dr BK Misra, Dr Keki Turel, Dr Roopesh Kumar, Dr Deepak Bhangale and others, along with Fortis and MCGM leadership serving as patrons.
