Nurse Practitioner Course In Critical Care to Start Soon

The Nurse Practitioner course to be started from 2017-18 academic year will make a paradigm shift in nursing care said Dr.Punitha Vijaya Ezhilarasu, Consultant, Indian Nursing Council while delivering Dr.S.Thanikachalam Endowment Oration at Sri Ramachandra University here today.  These postgraduates will serve in all types of critical care units in tertiary hospitals unlike the present M.Sc nursing students though specialized in many specialities who are more into nursing education.  In addition, 80 percent of their learning will be in skill labs and at the bedside.  They will follow established protocols and standing orders of a hospital.  These courses can also be started by leading hospitals with affiliation with a university for the purpose of exams and award of degree she added.

Dr.Punitha who was closely associated with the shaping of the programme said consultations will be held with interested universities and others in April and the programme will start in the next academic year.
