P.D. Hinduja Hospital & MRC hosts a conclave called ‘Skilling India’
The Skilling India program targets to generate 50000 skilled work force
Mumbai, June 25, 2019: P.D. Hinduja Hospital & MRC in association with Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) and Healthcare Sector Skill Council (HSSC) hosted a conclave on ‘Skilling India – Skilling for Healthier India’ on 22nd June, 2019. Globally, organizations have gained an understanding that talent is not developed in isolation but is the collective effort of diverse skill sets and continuous dedication towards maintaining and enhancing expertise. With a similar thought process, P.D. Hinduja Hospital & MRC organized a conclave and a panel discussion that aimed to introduce an integrated approach towards developing well-trained medical professionals. On the occasion, Healthcare Sector Skill Council (HSSC) also the launched Western Regional Council.
P.D. Hinduja Hospital & MRC, has always believed that quality healthcare starts with well-trained healthcare professionals. The demand and supply gap for skilled professionals in the allied health sciences area is huge and the hospital is committed to addressing this gap with niche courses and skill development programs. Under Allied Health Sciences, the hospital provides courses for Advanced Medical Laboratory Technician, Critical Care Technician, Dialysis Technician, Operation Theatre and Anesthesia Technician, Radiology Technician Certificate, etc. The duration of these courses is one year and is open for H.Sc pass/ Graduates depending on their desired specialization.
Addressing the conclave Dr. Sanjay Mukherjee IAS, Secretary, Medical Education & Drugs Department, Government of Maharashtra said, “There is a shortage of trained allied health professionals in the field of healthcare, it is therefore imperative for us to collaborate and introduce courses that can adequately address this shortage by imparting knowledge on diverse and niche skills sets. Curriculums need to be revisited and designed basis the challenges that we are facing today, apart from this we also need to collectively work towards setting high standards for healthcare deliverables in India, putting us on par with the best in global healthcare practices.”
Mr. Ashish Jain- CE0, HSSC said, “We have the best of healthcare providers who have come from both public and private sector like pharma companies, medical device companies etc. The ultimate Goal for us is to cater to the demands of the overall healthcare sector which will be helpful with the Board coming together”.

The conclave was attended by eminent personalities from the healthcare industry. The Special Guest was Dr. Shubnum Singh, Chairperson HSSC & Director, Medical Education and Research, Max Healthcare Institute Ltd, Guest of Honour was Ms. R. Vimala IAS, CEO MSRLM Government of Maharashtra and the key note address was given by Chief Guest Sanjay Mukherjee IAS Secretary, Medical Education & Drugs Department, Government of Maharashtra. The eminent speakers at the conclave were Ms Jane Karkeda , Regional Director CII Western Region, Mr Ashish Jain, CEO HSSC and Mr Joy Chakraborty, Chairman HSSC West Region and COO P.D Hinduja hospital and MRC.
The topics of panel discussions were ‘’Allied Health Professionals: Role in Transforming Healthcare Delivery”, “Challenges in Allied Health Skilling”, “Expectation of services provider organizations from Allied Health Workforce/Training” and “Workforce Crisis in Healthcare learning from the Globe”.
