Prime Minister Narendra Modi will dedicate several key healthcare infrastructure projects to the nation on July 17, according to PGIMER Director Dr Vivek Lal. The projects include the Advanced Mother and Child Centre, the Advanced Neurosciences Centre and a new Critical Care Block, all of which are expected to strengthen tertiary care services and expand access to specialised treatment.
The upcoming inauguration is being seen as an important boost for PGIMER’s clinical and research capabilities, particularly in areas where demand for advanced maternal, child and neurological care has been rising. These facilities are designed to improve patient access, enhance service capacity and support the institute’s role as a major referral centre for northern India.
The Advanced Mother and Child Centre is expected to improve care for high-risk pregnancies, newborns and paediatric patients, while the Advanced Neurosciences Centre will support complex neurological diagnosis and treatment. The Critical Care Block is also likely to add much-needed capacity for patients requiring intensive monitoring and life-saving interventions.
Dr Lal’s remarks underscore the significance of the projects in the context of India’s wider push to strengthen public healthcare infrastructure through specialised centres of excellence. The dedication ceremony will mark another milestone in the expansion of high-end public medical services in the region.
