Robotic GYN Forum empowers Chennai’s gynaecologists with advances in robotic surgery

The Da Vinci Robotic GYN Forum in association with Gleneagles Hospital Chennai hosted, a groundbreaking session aimed at empowering gynaecologists in Chennai with the latest advancements and best practices in robotic-assisted surgery. The forum brought together leading gynaecologists from across the city for an impactful clinical knowledge exchange and future-forward discussions on robotic-assisted gynecologic surgery. Dr Padma Priya Vivek, Diploma in Reproductive Medicine (Germany) headed the esteemed panel of speakers of the session.

The key topics explored at the session include the adoption of robotic surgery in Benign GYN, transitioning from laparoscopy to robotics and empowering GYN Surgeons through technological advancement. The forum fostered dynamic dialogue among practitioners, with participants expressing strong interest in further education and collaboration to drive better surgical outcomes in gynaecology.

Dr Padmapriya Vivek, Director, Obstetrics and Gynecology, Gleneagles Hospitals Chennai has performed over 320 da Vinci GYN procedures since Q2 2023 and is the second surgeon in India to complete 50 robotic GYN procedures within just 90 days showcased, the robotic innovations from Gleneagles Hospital Chennai and provided an in-depth look at the comparative outcomes between open, laparoscopic, and robotic-assisted benign hysterectomy procedures.

Dr Vivek presented robust clinical data demonstrating the benefits of the da Vinci platform, including reduced blood loss, shortened hospital stay, fewer complications, and improved patient recovery. Her structured training model and efforts to build a Total Robotic GYN Practice have significantly influenced the growing adoption of robotics in women’s health in India.

The Da Vinci Robotic GYN Forum reaffirmed Intuitive’s commitment to partnering with clinical leaders to enhance surgical precision, reduce patient recovery time, and improve quality of care. With Chennai’s GYN community showing enthusiasm and readiness to evolve with robotic innovation, the event marked a milestone in reshaping the surgical future for women’s health in South India.
