Roche Diagnostics Announces India Leadership Transition, Names Marco Valencia Sanchez as General Manager

Marco Valencia Sanchez will take over as GM- Roche Diagnostics India, succeeding Rishubh Gupta, who has been appointed Head of Subregion Africa for Roche

Roche Diagnostics has announced a leadership transition for its India and Neighboring Markets business. Effective August 1, 2026, Marco Valencia Sanchez will take over as General Manager, Roche Diagnostics India, succeeding Rishubh Gupta, who has been appointed Head of Subregion Africa for Roche Diagnostics and will be based in Nairobi, Kenya.

Rishubh Gupta, who joined Roche India in 2023, helped steer the business through a complex market environment while strengthening the company’s focus on expanding diagnostic access across India and neighboring markets. In his new role, he will join the Roche Diagnostics EMEA-LATAM Leadership Team.

Reflecting on his tenure, Rishubh Gupta said, “Leading the India and Neighboring Markets team has been an extraordinary privilege. I am deeply proud of the passion, grit, and customer-first mindset our team has demonstrated in making advanced diagnostics more accessible across the region. As I transition to my new role in Africa, I carry immense gratitude for our partners, clinicians, and team members who have been vital to this journey. I am confident that under Marco’s stellar leadership, Roche India will reach even greater heights.”

Marco Valencia Sanchez brings 17 years of experience at Roche to his new role. Over the course of his career, he has held leadership positions across global, regional and affiliate roles. Most recently, he served as Country Manager for Roche Diagnostics Philippines for the past four years, where he drove market growth and operational excellence. He will relocate to Mumbai with his family.

Commenting on his appointment, Marco Valencia Sanchez said, “I am honored to step into this role at such a transformative time for the Indian healthcare landscape.
