Sagar Hospitals celebrates World Kidney Day

S Singh
On the occasion of World Kidney Day, Bangalore-based multi-specialty hospital, Sagar Hospitals, felicitated 15 renal transplant recipients for their grit and survival instinct. The event saw celebrated Sandalwood Director-Producer, Shri. Yograj Bhat as Chief Guest. World Kidney Day is aimed to raise awareness of the importance of kidneys to our overall health, reducing the frequency of kidney disease and its associated health problems worldwide. This year’s theme is “Kidney Health for Everyone Everywhere.” Commenting on the occasion, Ms Ishiqa Multani, Executive Director, Sagar Hospitals said, “Kidney care is one of the most important areas of healthcare in India today. While enough awareness has been created on this, it is equally important to bring in best technology practices for better clinical outcomes. We at Sagar hospitals are committed towards building healthy communities by engaging with people around us, by providing them quality healthcare which is affordable and accessible.” Addressing the gathering, Dr. Sanjeev. K. Hiremath said, “Kidney Health in the country has a serious scope to improve, be it from the donors point or the recipients point. Kidney health is sometimes pushed away as it doesn’t appear as obvious as any other health risks and if not diagnosed properly could lead to several long-term issues. There also seems to be a change in the attitude towards donors, where more and more people are agreeing to have kidneys donated. This has created massive improvement in donor attitude.” Mr Ravindra Pai, CEO, Sagar Hospitals said, “At Sagar hospitals, we not only provide the most comprehensive kidney care, but also treatment that are affordable and can create significant impact in the community. In line with this thought, we felicitated donors and recipients of kidney to inspire and encourage others on the issue. The platform was also meant to discuss and engage with the community in creating awareness about early detection or prevent future risk of any kidney related ailments."
