Sameer Garg joins Meril Lifesciences

Garg will drive its robotic orthopaedic business

Sameer Garg has joined Meril Lifesciences to drive its robotic orthopaedic business. Garg joins Meril with more than 25 years of business and leadership experience, including 18 years at J & J (DePuy) where he began his career. 

Most recently, Garg served as the Head-West Zone at Maxx Orthopaedics, where he led business strategy and initiative of driving and developing PM-JAY business. Garg also served as the National Head, Da Vinci Robotic System (Vattikuti Technologies) until Intuitive established a direct sales office in India. 

In his current assignment, Garg will be responsible for operational execution and growth of Meril’s Curexo business. Last year, Meril Lifesciences signed a sales agreement with Curexo. The company plans to sell at least 53 CUVIS-joint surgical robots by the end of 2025, it said. 

CUVIS-joint robotic system is designed to cut bone, allowing precise implant insertion. It enables patient-specific procedures based on CT images and is equipped with AI Auto Segmentation as well as a guide on the choice of implant size and location to cut bones.

The company is pursuing an open platform solution compatible with a variety of implants in Korea and abroad. Besides, CUVIS-joint is preparing for CE Mark approval in Europe and FDA 510(k) clearance by 1H21. The company submitted the device for FDA 510(k) clearance for the CUVIS-spine robot last month. Seoul-based company, Curexo has established itself as a leading medical robot company in Korea and is expanding its presence globally.
