Santosh Marathe takes over as CEO of Gujarat-based Sterling Hospitals

Marathe has more than 20 years of leadership experience across major Indian and global healthcare systems

Sterling Hospitals has brought in senior healthcare strategist Santosh Marathe as its new Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer. With more than 20 years of leadership experience across major Indian and global healthcare systems, he is widely regarded for his ability to streamline large hospital networks, drive clinical performance, and strengthen organisational efficiency.

Marathe stated, “Sterling Hospitals has earned the trust of communities across Gujarat over more than two decades and my vision is to strengthen this trust even further through transparent systems, high quality care and initiatives that make advanced healthcare accessible to every patient. We are entering a transformative phase and while we enhance capabilities at our existing centres, we will also explore strategic expansion to bring specialised, multi-disciplinary care closer to more communities across the region.”

Marathe is a transformative leader with over three decades of experience, holding senior leadership roles in P&L management, operations and finance across reputed organisations in India and the UAE. Most recently, Marathe was the Group COO at NMC Healthcare in the UAE. He oversaw operations across 89 facilities, including nine tertiary care hospitals, 85 clinical specialties and 1,200 doctor practices. He managed a large workforce of over 9,000 people. Before NMC, Santosh had a seven-year stint with Apollo Hospitals as CEO for the Western Region, where he managed a network of seven quaternary care hospitals with 1,200 beds and 375 doctor practices across Maharashtra and Gujarat.

Marathe has been known for his deep experience and expertise in people leadership, developing clinical programmes, doctor engagement, strategic business planning and growth, patient service excellence and tech-transformation.
