Asia Healthcare Holdings takes majority stake in AINU

Consolidates single speciality foray Asia Healthcare Holdings (AHH), the single speciality healthcare delivery platform, has acquired a majority stake in the Asian Institute of Nephrology and Urology (AINU), India’s largest single speciality hospital network of Urology & Nephrology Care with a presence in four cities and pioneering work in Robotic Urology Surgery. AHH will invest Rs 600 crores in the company through a mix of primary and secondary infusions. This acquisition and AHH’s foray into the Urology and Nephrology segment marks its expansion into a fourth speciality making it the largest and only single speciality healthcare delivery platform in India and the broader Asian sub-continent. AHH was launched in 2017 and since then has scaled enterprises in Oncology (CTSI ), Women & Children’s ( Motherhood Hospitals ), IVF and Fertility ( Nova IVF ) which have all attained leadership positions within their respective domains.  AINU was founded in 2013 by a team of leading Urologists & Nephrologists led by Dr C Mallikarjun and Dr P C Reddy, since then it has become a pioneering hospital network in the Urology & Nephrology clinical specialty in the country. The company currently operates seven hospitals across Hyderabad, Visakhapatnam, Siliguri and Chennai. The network has more than 500 beds, has treated more than 400,000 patients and completed over 50,000 procedures. AINU has taken a leadership position in the country in the area of robotic urology surgery having completed over 1,000 surgeries with the use of robotic technology.  On the Nephrology front, more than 200,000 dialysis and 300 kidney transplants have been performed by the enterprise. “AINU is a distinct single speciality hospital chain in Urology & Nephrology which is built on the foundation of deep clinical expertise and led by clinicians who have decades of experience in this speciality. AINU not only adds a new speciality to the AHH platform but also strengthens our vision of scaling the single-speciality healthcare delivery ecosystem in the country. India is among the top three nations globally that has the highest incidence of Urological disorders, the high incidence of diabetes and hypertension is also accelerating the prevalence of chronic kidney disease. We are delighted to partner with AINU and bridge the demand-supply gap in the Urology & Nephrology speciality healthcare delivery in the country,” said Vishal Bali, Executive Chairman, Asia Healthcare Holdings.    AINU provides state-of-the-art treatment for urology conditions across its network. Its comprehensive services include diagnostics and treatment for stone disease, urology cancers, prostate diseases, reconstructive urology surgery, laparoscopic urology, and Andrology. The Nephrology Department offers treatment for acute, chronic, and end-stage renal diseases (ESRD), along with a state-of-the-art dialysis unit equipped with High-End Hemodiafiltration (HDF) Machines to ensure superior clinical outcomes. “Indians have a high incidence of kidney stones and non-cancerous prostate enlargement issues. Increasingly we have observed a rise in the incidence of Urological cancer in the last decade. Cancer of the prostate and bladder is becoming more common. Our team has performed over 1,000 robotic surgeries for urological cancers. We are making Robotic Urology surgery accessible to patients not just in urban India but also in tier II cities. Broadly we see a higher incidence of Uro-Oncology, Uro-Gynaecology and Paediatric Urology in the years ahead. We believe AHH has the legacy and is the right partner for the next phase of growth of our enterprise said Dr Mallikarjun, Chief Consultant Urologist & Managing Director, AINU. “Around 10 per cent of the Indian population suffers from chronic kidney disease and every year over one lakh cases of renal failure are reported which makes Nephrology Care a key focus area for patients in India. With the increase in chronic kidney diseases, technological advancements in Dialysis and transplants are much needed to improve clinical outcomes and better patient care” said Dr PC Reddy, Senior Urologist & Executive Director, AINU.
