Dr DY Patil Medical College, Hospital & Research Centre, with support from Rashtriya Bal Swasthya Karyakram (RBSK) scheme, has launched cochlear implant programme for deaf-mute children. This initiative is a pioneering step that signifies the institution’s commitment to the betterment of society.

The first Cochlear implant surgery took place under the mentorship of Prof. Dr. Hetal Marfatia, HOD, Dept of ENT, KEM Mumbai. Dr Vinod Shinde, a distinguished Professor in the Department of Otorhinolaryngology at Dr DY Patil Medical College, Hospital & Research Centre and Dr Mubarak Khan, an Adjunct Professor at the same department, provided invaluable assistance. The remarkable anaesthesia team also deserves special recognition for their crucial role in the success of this initiative.
