IESA hosts AI Summit 2021 

Presented by the IESA Hyderabad Chapter, the two-day conference focussed on indigenous research and innovation in the semiconductor and electronics ecosystem India Electronics and Semiconductor Association (IESA), the industry association representing India’s Electronics and Semiconductor ecosystem hosted the AI Summit 2021. The inaugural session featured a keynote address from Jayesh Ranjan, IAS, Principal Secretary, Govt of Telangana along with Dado Banatao, Managing Partner, Tallwood Venture Capital, Chairman of the Board, Blaize along with Dr Satya Gupta, Chairperson, IESA.  Presented by the IESA Hyderabad Chapter the objective of the two-day conference focussed on the three sectors – smart city, social empowerment and automotive to fillip indigenous research and innovation in the semiconductor and electronics ecosystem. The key delegates were Walden Rhines, President and CEO, Cornami Inc, who talked about AI/ML for security, Jay Hiremath, Corp VP, Platform and Software Engineering, AMD, gave a speech on The New Systems thinking to drive HPC & ML and Sundara Ramalingam Nagalingam, Global Director - AI Consulting Partners, NVIDIA - Advancements in Semicon for AI/ ML applications. Panellists for Industrial Applications of AI were Gangadhar Gude, Founder & CEO, ATAI (Chair); Mallik M, VP - Product and BD, Syntiant; Shawn Holiday, Head of Customer Experience, Blaize and Dr Manish Kothari, Vice President, Silabs India. Addressing the inaugural session of the IESA AI Summit, Jayesh Ranjan, IAS, Principal Secretary, Govt of Telangana said, “AI has showcased tremendous potential and played a pivotal role in the post-pandemic economic recovery. Today, Telangana is one of the pioneering states, leading the adoption of AI and also developing a separate AI framework. To make it amongst the top 25 Global AI Innovation Hubs, various AI-enabled tools and solutions have been rolled out to empower the key sectors.”  He added, “IESA has been at the forefront of the AI domain to flawlessly infuse it in the semiconductor and VLSI industry. Such AI-oriented solutions can be revolutionary for these sectors. I am happy to witness stalwarts and industry experts at the AI Summit and want to congratulate IESA for providing a platform to encourage insightful discussions that can prove to be visionary.” Reflecting on the event, Dado Banatao, Managing Partner, Tallwood Venture Capital, Chairman of the Board, Blaize, added, “The age of AI is upon us bringing with it the most expansive opportunities for innovation in the history of the electronics and semiconductor industry. We are seeing a plethora of opportunities to create and recreate companies, opportunities to transform how technology can solve real problems for businesses, governments, communities and societies, and new local charities. This, as a result, will enable economic growth through technology-based innovation and entrepreneurship.” A panel discussion was held on India's Role in building AI Software with Manish Singhal, Founding Partner, Pi Ventures, Karthik Natarajan, COO, Cyient, Koushik Ragavan, Head of AIML & Datascience, Micron Technology, Purushottam Kulkarni, Group Engineering Manager, Microsoft India and Chaired by Ajay Agrawal, SVP & Global Head Analytics & AI CoE, Happiest Minds. This was followed by a keynote on AI @ Population Scale by Srinivas Lingam, VP, Data Platforms Group & GM, AI Products Group from Intel India.
