Wipro GE Healthcare manufacturing of Versana Ultrasound range in Bengaluru facility

Wipro GE Healthcare has enhanced its local capability to manufacture a wide range of Versana products in India. This is part of the company’s strategy to expand localisation and strengthen the supplier ecosystem. The Versana Ultrasound range is part of the company’s affordable product portfolio and will be manufactured at its state-of-the-art facility in Kadugodi, Bengaluru.

Shravan Subramanyam, MD, Wipro GE Healthcare, South Asia said, “With this new local manufacturing we will cut down our imports of the Versana range by half. With local manufacturing, we can fast-track the availability of these critical care equipment. The price benefit will also be passed on to our customers.”

“By end of 2021, the plan is to locally manufacture seven ultrasound products catering to OB/GYN, radiology, cardiology, anaesthesia, emergency, and critical care segments,” he added.

Currently, a Versana ultrasound device can be built in India with a 1.5-hour turnaround time owing to the agile supply chain ecosystem, thus enhancing responsiveness to customers requirements.

“For healthcare professionals, ultrasound plays a critical role in drawing patient data and visualisation, helping them make more informed decisions that may lead to better clinical outcomes for patients. Our ultrasound machines under the brand names Versana, LOGIQ and Vivid with their innovative technologies has seen growing demand in India especially in the value segment. These product lines will now be manufactured in the country,” adds Ashit Shah, Business Head, Ultrasound, Wipro GE Healthcare, South Asia.
