XIME International conference on Best practices in healthcare management

Xavier Institute of Management and Entrepreneurship (XIME), in association with Association of Health Care Providers of India (AHPI), organised a two-day international conference on ‘Best practices in healthcare management’ on March 8-9, 2018. Director (Development), XIME, Dr. M. Nellaiappan said over 20 speakers from across the country will showcase innovative business models of leading hospitals and deliberate on hospitals of the future and other healthcare management themes.

The event saw 150 delegates from across India participating in discussions and debate on different aspects of healthcare delivery management in India. The objective of the conference was to know, Share and Implement best Healthcare delivery models from around the world and evolve adequate management options for the hospitals and healthcare providers of the future.

Dr. Devi Shetty, Chairman, Narayana Healthcare, delivered the keynote address focusing on technology and how it would drive healthcare in the future. Prof. Mukesh Kapila, Professor –University of Manchester and former Director, WHO delivered the second keynote address on  Non Communicable Diseases-Why Business as usual will not do.

Another interesting talk was presented by Dr Jaume Ribera, Professor, ICSE Business School, Spain on future trends in healthcare focusing on the roles of health providers and managers.

Dr Shakthi Gupta, Medical Superintendent , AIIMS, New Delhi; Dr Naveen Thomas, CEO, Bangalore Baptist Hospital and Dr Ajay Kumar Chairman and CEO, HCGE presented case studies of sustainable quality healthcare delivery.

The afternoon session reflected on the facets of Law, Ethics and Communication in Healthcare. Dr Alexander Thomas, President AHPI; Dr. Murali Srinivasan, Chief of Clinical Service, Manipal Hospital; Dr George Cheriyan, CEO, American Medical Hospital, Bahrain were part of the session.

Day two started with a talk on managing innovation in health care, Prof Magda Rosen Moller, Centre for Research in Health Innovation Management, ICSE Business School, Spain shared Insights from Europe and other settings while Vera Siesjo, Country Director-Access Health International, Philippines shared insights from ASEAN countries.

Ashish Katewa, Director, Sai Sanjeevini Group of Hospitals, Raipur, Chattisgarh gave an educational presentation on compassionate healthcare models.

In the session on Healthcare Delivery System  for Hospitals of the Future Dr. Sarang Deo, Associate Professor , ISB and Executive Director of the Max Institute of Healthcare Management spoke about Operational Innovations for Hospitals of the future.  Latesh Sen, GM – Costing & Business analysis, Radiant Healthcare Pvt. Ltd. was also part of the session.

The Valedictory Session was addressed by Rajendra Pratap Gupta, Advisor to Union Minister of Health & Family Welfare, who spoke about elevating healthcare to aspirational levels.
