ZEISS India has appointed Sharath Sirivolu as Head of the Center for Applied Research in India (CARIn), a move that underlines the company’s push to strengthen its research and development leadership in Bengaluru. The appointment is part of ZEISS India’s broader effort to accelerate transformation through its dedicated R&D centre and build a stronger innovation ecosystem in the country.
In his new role, Sharath Sirivolu will report to Miguel Gonzalez Diaz, Managing Director, India and Robin Schmidt, Head of Digital Health, MED segment, globally. He will also join the India Leadership Team and work closely on the company’s culture and transformation agenda.
Santana Ramakrishnan, CHRO, ZEISS India, said innovation sits at the core of the company’s DNA and continues to shape how it responds to a rapidly advancing ecosystem. She said the company is strengthening its focus on building a future-ready research environment and described Sharath’s experience in leading global R&D initiatives as instrumental to the next phase of ZEISS India CARIn’s journey.
According to the company, Sharath will be responsible for building the blocks of the MED digital ecosystem made in India. He will support the MED segment across devices, platforms and applications, while leading CARIn’s transformation into a world-class R&D organisation. ZEISS said the move will help strengthen CARIn’s value proposition for the MED segment both globally and in India.
Sharath brings more than 25 years of experience in R&D leadership across global organisations, including GE Healthcare and Schneider Electric. Over the years, he has worked on innovative solutions across healthcare, energy and industrial automation, while also driving large-scale technology initiatives and incubating early-stage ventures.
