Dr AV Cancer Institute organises conference on precision medicine, molecular oncology

As many as 150 cancer experts across the country participated in the two-day international conference

A two-day international conference on ‘Precision Medicine & Molecular Oncology’ was co-organised by Dr Amit Verma, renowned molecular oncologist and Founder of Dr AV Cancer Institute of Personalised Cancer Therapy and Research Centre, Gurgaon and Dr Sachin Gupta, Senior Medical Oncologist at Max Super Specialty Hospital, Mohali at Radisson Red, Mohali. As many as 150 cancer experts across the country participated during the two-day international conference.

An initiative of creating an expert network was launched during the event called Precision Oncology Network of India (PONI) is a combined effort of cancer experts across India who join hands together to grow the niche science of precision oncology for better treatment outcomes for cancer patients. It is an initiative to bring like-minded experts to think, interpret and practice newer yet experimental-natured treatments to build ethical guidelines for the future. 

Dr Verma said, “We wish to empower the rights of the experts as well as the patients to have the proper diagnosis made at the right time with the right intent for better prognosis.”

He further said, “The network aims to develop unconventional and more efficacious therapeutic actions, to improve detection and understanding of mechanisms driving therapeutic resistance, to identify and validate biomarkers and screening procedures for early diagnosis and tailor-made treatment. Therefore, this platform is going to be the next wave of innovation in the field of personalized cancer case precision oncology.”

The event witnessed some renowned personalities such as Dr PK Julka, Dr Ashok Vaid, Dr DC Doval, Dr Hemant Malhotra, and Dr T Raja. Dr Shaveta Gupta, Senior Gynaecologist and Laparoscopic and Robotic Surgeon and Dr Krutika Goel.

Associate Consultant Medical and Paediatric Oncology and Haematology, Max Mohali were also an instrumental part of organising the conference.
