Edelweiss General Insurance partners with ABDM

To help citizens generate ABHA number

Digital insurer Edelweiss General Insurance (EGI) is the first insurer to partner with the Ministry of Health, Government of India, to help create digital health IDs for all the people of India. ABHA (Ayushman Bharat Health Account) is a 14-digit number that helps users to share and access their health records digitally with registered healthcare providers. This initiative by EGI is a small contribution to the National Health Authority’s (NHA) mission of creating a national digital health ecosystem for the country.

All customers of EGI and the public at large can now easily generate their unique ABHA number through the company’s website www.edelweissinsurance.com. New customers will also be prompted to get their ABHA at the time of policy issue.

Shanai Ghosh, Executive Director & CEO, Edelweiss General Insurance, said, “Ayushman Bharat is creating a Digital Health Stack for India which will have a transformational impact on the healthcare delivery system in the country; we are truly privileged to partner in this mission. This programme will enable and empower the people of this country to access medical diagnosis, treatment, and financing from verified healthcare providers and payors, seamlessly across the country. I would personally urge every citizen to come forward and generate their ABHA number.”
