Global Healthcare Academy hosts ‘Best of ASCO’ conference in Bengaluru

Showcases breakthroughs in cancer care 

The Global Healthcare Academy (GHA) inaugurated the ‘Best of ASCO’ conference marking a significant milestone in the fight against cancer in India and beyond. The three-day conference, focusing on groundbreaking research and advancements in oncology, brought together leading oncologists from across the country to discuss, debate, and disseminate the most impactful findings from the American Society of Clinical Oncology (ASCO) annual meeting. 

The conference was inaugurated by Dr MK Ramesh, Vice-Chancellor of Rajiv Gandhi University of Health Sciences, with notable addresses from Dr Radheshyam Naik, Group Medical Advisor at Healthcare Global Enterprises and Dr BS Ajaikumar, Executive Chairman of Healthcare Global Enterprises. 

Highlighting the urgent need to address the growing cancer burden, especially in low- and middle-income countries including India, the ‘Best of ASCO’ conference showcased the latest trends in cancer treatment, with a special focus on immunotherapy. This innovative approach to cancer treatment, which has seen significant advances over the past 15 years, was discussed extensively, offering new hope and directions for cancer care professionals. 

Dr Ajaikumar emphasised the importance of the conference as a platform to re-orient oncology care towards real-world scenarios, aiming to implement innovative treatment modalities that could significantly improve patient outcomes. 

Dr Ramesh MK, Vice-Chancellor, Rajiv Gandhi University of Health Sciences voiced the educational impact of the conference, highlighting the potential of Immunotherapy modalities to advance cancer treatment significantly. The event served not only as a learning platform but also as an initiative to further healthcare advancements and opportunities for medical professionals. 

Echoing the sentiments of national experts, Dr Andrew Wardley from the UK lauded the initiative for orienting oncology professionals towards the latest innovations in immunotherapy, stressing the importance of international collaboration in the fight against cancer. 

Dr Govind Babu, Chair of the Scientific Committee, underscored the conference’s comprehensive coverage of cancer management, including discussions on genomics, precision medicine, artificial intelligence, and clinical research, all aimed at enhancing the multidisciplinary approach to cancer care.
