Honorable Chief Minister of Karnataka Sri B. S Yediyurappa inaugurated the Epilepsy Care and Mobile App at Sakra World Hospital

Bangalore, Saturday, September 21, FirstMeridian Business Services launched its first CSR initiative – Epilepsy Prevention and Integrated Care (EPIC) program, in collaboration with Rotary Bangalore IT Corridor (RBITC) and Sakra World Hospital. Chief Guests Shri. B.S. Yediyurappa, Hon. Chief Minister of Karnataka; Rtn. Dr. Satish Rudrappa, Neurosurgeon at Sakra and President at RBITC; and Mr. Sudhakar Balakrishnan, Group CEO at FirstMeridian, cut the ribbon and inaugurated the Epilepsy Care Unit set up at Sakra World Hospital, Bangalore, and the Epilepsy App developed by the FirstMeridian technology team.

The EPIC program will enable adequate community education for the identification and treatment of Epilepsy, low-cost medical treatment, free medical care and consultation in epilepsy camps, removal of social stigma around epilepsy and creating equal opportunities for people with epilepsy. The Epilepsy Mobile App will be a common Epilepsy Care platform for Patients, Caretakers, Doctors and NGOs, featuring independent, user role-specific dashboards, activities, appointments and calendar, patient records, documents, and more.

The event was inaugurated by the honourable CM of Karnataka via video conference, “The EPIC program launch is need of the hour to create awareness and treat the Epilepsy patients especially in rural area, my hearty thanks to Sakra Hospital, FirstMeridian and Rotary Club IT Corridor for  setting this program”, said the CM.

Speaking at the event, Sudhakar Balakrishnan, Founder and Group CEO, FirstMeridian said, “Our EPIC initiative goes beyond just enabling funds for effective diagnosis, prevention practices, care, treatment and surgeries for the underprivileged. At FirstMeridian we will be proactively involved in many activities throughout our commitment to this program. One such proactive measure is the Epilepsy App that our technology team has created.
