Nephrocare India to set up 22 comprehensive kidney-care facilities by March 2026

Plans to set up close to 300 comprehensive renal care units in the next ten years

Kolkata-based Nephrocare India is looking to expand its presence by setting up its unique comprehensive kidney care centres across the country. The company currently has three kidney care clinics apart from a flagship unit in Kolkata equipped with facilities which provide complete and holistic care to its patients.

Plans are afoot to set up 22 such high-end facilities by March 2026. Of this, four centres will be opened by the end of the current fiscal. The company is exploring various options for raising funds, including an initial public offer (IPO), to meet its growth objective.

Equipped with a complete diagnostic armamentarium to address all needs of a kidney patient including pharmacy, 12-bedded modern dialysis facility, critical renal patient care setup, along with lifestyle yoga and nutritional care departments, backed by its unique patient-centric IT solution; each of these centres has its tested unique delivery model to cater to every need of patients with kidney ailments.

According to Dr Pratim Sengupta, Founder, Nephrocare, India is the diabetic capital of the world, the highest number of prevalent kidney disease patients are there in this country as diabetes is the leading cause of kidney disease globally. The country therefore needs multiple holistic renal care clinics like Nephrocare clinics to protect, treat and improve the quality of life of crores of CKD (chronic kidney disease) patients. Lack of proper infrastructure and access to specialised renal care clinics are some of the main reasons for India has such a huge burden of end-stage kidney disease patients.

Somnath Chakraborty, CEO, Nephrocare India said, “As you can see there is a huge gap between the demand and supply of kidney care units in India. We are looking to expand our presence across the country to address the gap by adopting the hub and spoke model. In West Bengal, we will have three more centres at Shyambazar, Chandannagar and North Bengal and we also plan to move into Chattisgarh by setting up a centre in Raipur by March 2024 at an estimated investment of around Rs 12 crore. We are looking to open 22 such comprehensive kidney-care centres by March 2026,” Chakraborty said.

“We have a vision of reaching out and impacting the lives of close to one million patients suffering from chronic kidney disease by setting up 300 such centres across the country in the next 10-15 years. We are exploring various options of raising funds, including an IPO, to expand our network and help reach out to more patients across the country,” he said.
