It may be noted that the first public-private model of collaboration between the Government of Karnataka, the National Board of Examinations and the ANBAI was initiated on the premises of Bangalore Baptist Hospital in the year 2016.

Under the stewardship, Dr Abhijat Seth, President NBE, Health Minister and officials of MOH&FW, GoK represented by Dr Parimala (presently Director, SIHFW)and Dr Alexander Thomas, the then President of ANBAI, & Director BBH, had extensive discussions between the stakeholders, spanning over two years resulted in the Government of Karnataka commencing Post Graduate DNB courses at nine government hospitals in the districts of Bagalkot Chitradurga, Dharwad, Kolar, Tumkur, Vijayapura and Bellary along with KC General and Jayanagar General hospitals in Bangalore in the year 2018 and these students who have enrolled into this course have executed a bond to serve in the government hospitals after successful completion of the course.

As a result of this, the issue of shortage of specialists is being very effectively addressed as specialised care is available to the citizens at large on a 24/7 basis, benefiting the community.

This stream of post-graduate education provides opportunities for those in government service and others to pursue cost-effective high-quality postgraduate training.
