Wockhardt Hospitals, Mumbai Central along with Rotary Club felicitates Rotary International President Elect Mark Maloney & celebrates success of Little Hearts. The announcement took place in the presence of Hon. Dr. Habil Khorakiwala, Chairman – Wockhardt Group.

Every year about 1.5 lakh babies are born in India with congenital heart disease. It’s a condition in which a baby is born with a malfunctioning heart. Despite being detectable, 80 thousand babies don’t make it beyond infancy.  Infants born with congenital heart disease in India die every year due to lack of awareness, inadequate health care facilities in the country and lack of Funds. This high infant mortality rate is directly related to the huge cost of hospitalization and surgery to correct congenital heart defects. It forces a parent to make a tough choice; to accept things as they come, and expect the worse, anytime… any day… any moment…

The Wockhardt Pediatric Congenital Heart Center’s mission is to “Conquer Congenital Heart Disease.” We are accomplishing this through collaboration with patients, parents, providers, and partner organizations to improve quality and outcomes through CHD education, support, research, awareness and funding.

Little heart is an initiative especially for those who cannot afford the treatment and than they are never cured which later creates major complications of the heart. Thanks to advances in pediatric heart surgery and interventional catheterization, nearly every form of congenital heart disease can be treated with the expectation of a good outcome.

Hon. Dr. Habil Khorakiwala, Chairman – Wockhardt Groupsays, “We all love our children, in saving a child’s life these are very precious gift we can give to hundreds of people and their parents. We have been privileged and fortunate that over last several years we have saved over 5000 life of young children any generosity one provides to these little children is something which will make you very happy and content”.

“Cardiac procedures are complex, and when we speak of pediatric cardiac procedures, it gets more critical. We have successfully performed an open heart surgery on a 4-hour-old baby. We are setting new clinical benchmarks every time we conduct a procedure.” said Dr Suresh Joshi Director Pediatric & Congenital Heart Centre, Wockhardt Hospital Mumbai Central.
