M S Ramaiah Narayana Heart Centre commemorates World Heart Day by giving a new lease of life to a 40 year old heart patient

Bengaluru, September 29, 2019:  M S Ramaiah Narayana Heart Centre– a unit managed by Narayana Health, today celebrated World Heart Day by successfully performing a heart transplant surgery.

Hailing from Mysore, the recipient was suffering from Ischemic dilated cardiomyopathy. He was under medical management at M S Ramaiah Narayana Heart Centre. After a thorough evaluation by the team of cardiologists and cardiac surgeons, the patient was advised a heart transplant. He had registered with Jeevasarthakate (ZCCK) 4 months ago.

The donor was a 26 year old, who had met with an accident. He was declared brain dead yesterday night at Manipal Hospital, Old Airport Road, Benagluru and his family consented for organ donation. The heart was transported from Manipal Hospital, Old Airport Road, Bengaluru to M S Ramaiah Narayana Heart Centre, BEML Road, Benagluru at 2.00 am.

The heart retrieval and transplant was performed by Dr. Ravi Shankar Shetty, Senior Consultant Cardiothoracic & Heart Transplant Surgeon, M S Ramaiah Narayana Heart Centre, Dr. Nagamalesh. U.M, Senior Consultant Heart Failure & Transplant, M S Ramaiah Narayana Heart Centre, Dr. Varun Shetty, Senior Consultant Cardiac Surgeon, Narayana Health City, Dr. Prashanth Ramamurthy, Consultant Cardiac Anaesthetist, M S Ramaiah Narayana Heart Centre and  Dr. Guru Police Patil Anaesthetist, M S Ramaiah Narayana Heart Centre.
