Manipal Teaching Hospital in Nepal sold for Rs 3.5 billion

At present, MBBS, PG and Nursing classes are being conducted in this hospital

Manipal Teaching Hospital in Pokhara has been sold recently. Anandaraj Batas, Chairman of Batas Organization, a business group in Pokhara, and Narayan Poudel, chairman of Autoways Group, bought the hospital for Rs 3.5 billion. This is according to news in thenepalipost.com.

According to Poudel, Chairman of Autoways Group, Batas has bought the hospital with 60 per cent investment and Poudel with 40 per cent investment. Poudel said that a hospital purchase agreement will be signed with Manipal Group.

An agreement was reached between the Government of Nepal and the Manipal Education and Medical Group of India on October 18, 1992, to establish the hospital.

MBBS was started as a medical college two years after the agreement was signed. At present, MBBS, PG and Nursing classes are being conducted in this hospital.
