Metropolis Healthcare awards scholarship to 70 medical students 

A total of Rs 50 lakh was awarded to the winners of this year’s edition of MedEngage

Metropolis Healthcare awarded a scholarship to 70 medical students for the 2nd edition of its annual Medical Talent Outreach Programme, MedEngage. The recipients of the scholarship were awarded a total of Rs 50 lakh in recognition of their academic scores, publications, extra-curricular activities and presentations.

To nurture and nourish medical talent in India, this year’s edition of the scholarship summit was held virtually. Over 2000 registrations and 1500 applications from several governments and private medical colleges from India were received for the scholarships. Out of these, the jury shortlisted 70 students whose applications were considered unique and innovative. Amongst the winners, 40 students are from government colleges while 30 are from private colleges.

While addressing the ceremony, Dr Sushil Shah, Founder and Chairman, Metropolis Healthcare said, “Through MedEngage, we strive to provide students with the recognition for their hard work. We are giving them grants to conduct testing for their thesis, internship programmes and training in our laboratories to prepare them for the technological changes in the field of medicine. Metropolis Healthcare is proud to see the continued success of the programme wherein the number of applications has increased two folds from 700 last year to 1500. This year, we have provided scholarships to 70 noteworthy and talented students, which is double from last year. We shall continue this initiative for a long time to come as our contribution to the entire medical fraternity.”

The Chief Guest for the event was Dr Naresh Shetty, President of MS Ramaiah Memorial Hospital and the Chief at the Ramaiah Advanced Learning Centre while the Guest of Honour was Dr TP Lahane, renowned eye surgeon and Director of Directorate of Medical Education and Research (DMER) in Mumbai, Maharashtra.

The esteemed jury panel included Dr Gustad B Daver, Medical Director and Head of Surgery of Sir HN Reliance Foundation Hospital and Research Centre, Dr Vijay V Haribhakti, Consultant Surgical Oncologist and Microvascular and Reconstructive Surgeon and Dr Amita Joshi, Professor and Head of Department of Pathology, Seth G S Medical College & K E M Hospital, Mumbai.

MedEngage, a CSR initiative by Metropolis Healthcare aims to nurture and nourish the imminent medical talent in the country by providing scholarship, academic research discounts and certificate courses. This is a part of the company’s social initiatives to bring changes and improve the healthcare research and academic landscape in India.
