Vallabhbhai Patel Chest Institute organises 7th Dr VK VIJAYAN ORATION Programme

Discussions were held on staying away from pollution and visit doctor  

Vallabhbhai Patel Chest Institute, a unique postgraduate medical institute known for its research on respiratory diseases and dedicated to research, teaching, and patient care in the field of chest diseases has organised its 7th Dr VK VIJAYAN ORATION programme on the topic ‘COPD: The Emerging Epidemic and Our Research Journey.’

Professor Anant Mohan, Head Department of Pulmonary Critical Care & Sleep Pulmocon Medicine AIIMS, Delhi, while giving this information, said, “Firstly, awareness and secondly the patient needs to stay away from pollution and you should keep in touch with your doctor from time to time, otherwise this disease can prove fatal.”

Dr Rajkumar, Director, Vallabhbhai Patel Chest Institute, has done many major research in this regard, said, “Burning plastic or garbage releases black carbon (soot) that contributes to climate change and air pollution. It promotes respiratory diseases like COPD, asthma, and emphysema.”

In this programme, Dr JL Meena (Member, MARB, National Medical Commission, New Delhi) was the chief guest, Vandana Jain (Joint Secretary, Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, Government of India, Nirman Bhawan, New Delhi) was the special guest. Delhi. As guests of honour, Prof Balram Pani (Dean of College, Delhi University, Delhi) and Prof. Ravindra Kumar Diwan (Director, National Institute of TB and Respiratory Diseases, New Delhi) also participated in this programme.
